*An important note on Finding a Doula
All doula certifying organizations are not the same in terms of education and clinical experience required to become a certified doula.
Some doula certifying organizations provide “lifetime” doula certification (i.e. no recertification or CEU required) and some require ongoing continuing education (CEU) and recertification.
TRICARE will only approve and cover doula services with doulas certified by very specific, TRICARE-approved doula certifying organizations.
Carrot Fertility provides coverage for Postpartum Doulas and has specific guidelines for qualifying doulas.
In Oct. of 2024 ONLY the Ohio Board of Nursing can certify doulas in Ohio. Only Doulas with the OBN Ohio board certification can use the title “Certified Doula.".
Ohio Medicaid will cover doula services with Ohio board certified doulas.
Doula Certifying Organizations provide a listing of their certified doulas in a directory. If you do not see a particular doula listed, that means their certification has either lapsed or they did not complete certification.
Smaller/local certifying organizations may not provide a directory.
