Five Things to Know Before Your Ultrasound at Nurture
It’s a magical experience to peek into the womb and see your baby. Sometimes, in the midst of feeling nauseous, exhausted, and stretched to the max it’s easy to forget that beneath those uncomfortable side-effects of pregnancy is an adorable, tiny, beautiful human being— fully alive and conscious within you.
You/your body is literally their whole world and while you are giving so much of yourself to grow them into incredible human beings, they are receiving that love from you, through the umbilical cord, across the placental wall and into their bodies as they grow and become a living product of your beautiful, sacrificial love.
Seeing your baby suck their thumb, purse their little lips together, rub their eyes, kick their little feet is magical. It is a good reminder, in the midst of pregnancies that are not always as fun or as easy as they look on Instagram, that it is SO worth it— all of the love, all of the sacrifice. It’s all right there. You can see it. You can see them— your baby boy or girl— they are one little bundle of gestating love.
Here are some answers to questions we get asked a lot about coming in for an ultrasound. Hope you enjoy these tips to help you prepare for an experience you will never forget.
1. Between 26-32 weeks the baby has had time to build up body fat, but still has room to move around, so this is the best timefram to get a 3D/4D ultrasound.
2. The clarity of your 3D ultrasound pictures depends solely upon how hydrated you are! To get good images, there must be plenty of fluid around the baby’s face.
3. For good 3D/4D images, it is ideal for baby to be positioned with the head down low, near your cervix. Baby should also be facing upwards towards your stomach.
4. Only doctors can interpret scans and provide medical advice. While our ultraound machine is the same as at your doctor's office, we do not provide diagnostic scans because we do not have a doctor onsite to interpret them.
5. There is no need to have a full or uncomfortable bladder. You can drink fluid to hydrate your body and empty your bladder when you need to.
