“Connected at the Heart: Meet Our Team”

As we begin this new year, we’re setting the intention of “connection”—to ourselves, our families, our communities, and the work we do. Connection is at the heart of everything we stand for at Nurture, and it’s a theme we hope to manifest in every aspect of our lives this year. Whether through supporting families, building relationships within our doula team, or strengthening bonds with those we serve, connection is what drives us forward.

In the spirit of connection, we are thrilled to feature one of our own who embodies this intention so beautifully: Anna Nix. Her dedication to creating meaningful connections with families, as well as with her colleagues, is a perfect example of how we can weave this powerful intention into everything we do.

Anna has been working as a doula since 2017 and has extensive experience supporting women during pregnancy and birth. Drawing from her own seven(!) diverse birth experiences, she passionately empowers women to embrace their natural birthing abilities. Known for her calming and reassuring presence, Anna fosters an environment of peace and confidence during labor, helping women trust in the power of their bodies.

In her role as Doula Connections Facilitator, Anna plays a pivotal role in bringing our team of doulas together. She actively seeks out advanced educational opportunities and CEUs, ensuring that our team stays up-to-date with the latest in birth work. Beyond that, Anna nurtures a strong sense of community and collaboration within the Nurture family, helping us stay connected, aligned, and continuously growing as professionals. Her dedication helps foster the supportive atmosphere that makes Nurture so special.

Outside of her professional work, Anna homeschools her seven children and enjoys cultivating a homestead. She’s an expert in nutritional wellness, with large gardens and animals that provide her family with homegrown pork, cattle, and fresh eggs. She’s also mastered the art of sourdough bread baking! Anna’s passion for healthy living stems from her own pregnancy journeys. After experiencing preeclampsia and a medically managed induction with her first baby, she made lifestyle changes that allowed her to avoid preeclampsia in her subsequent six pregnancies, one of which was a natural hospital birth and the rest were peaceful home births with a certified professional midwife.

Anna’s story is one of resilience and empowerment, and it’s been such an honor for me, Erica, to have been her doula for all of her children. Being part of Anna’s intimate and rewarding birthing experiences has been nothing short of incredible. One of the most unforgettable moments was when I had the privilege of “receiving” one of her babies during a fast home birth where the midwife didn’t make it in time. It’s a beautiful reminder that mothers birth their babies, and I was simply there to receive her little one into the world—a moment I’ll never forget! 🩷

We are so grateful to have Anna as part of the Nurture team. Her passion, wisdom, and dedication to both her family and the families she supports continue to inspire us every day. If you ever have the chance to work with Anna, you’ll quickly see why she is such a treasured part of our community.

By your side,

🌺 Erica xo
