Are you expecting a little elf this December?

Are you expecting a little elf this December?  Are you worried about whether or not they will be born on Christmas Day? Did you know that 🎄 Christmas Day is statistically the rarest day to give birth? Here’s why…

First, let’s be honest, people are far more likely to be conceiving a baby 🥰 than giving birth to one on Christmas day.  (Side note to Doulas: remember to not plan any vacations or get-aways next September! 😜)

Also, 🤰 pregnant women’s bodies are like sponges when it comes to their tendency to soak up the stress and pressures 🎄💝☃️❄️ that are typically associated with the holidays more than usual.  (Can you relate?) This is part of the reason why babies are statistically less likely to be born on Christmas Day.

Pregnant women can tend to be more stressed than normal during the holidays because not only are they shopping, decorating, planning parties, cooking 💃🍗….they are doing it while growing a baby whom they subconsciously hope will not be born on December 25th!

They may worry so much that an increase in adrenaline is released into their body, sending a signal to their brain that it’s not in a safe place to give birth.  (With this in mind who’s going to make the biggest most extravagant Christmas dinner ever??🤩)

Truth be told, babies born on Christmas Day are celebrated and loved like babies born on any other day of the year.  So if you are due around Christmas, try not to worry too much.  Your baby will pick the very best day for them to be born— trust the process.

What are you doing to relieve stress and embrace the simple and honest beauty and magic of this season? 🫶

Where are you December due dates 🎅🏼🎄🙋🏼‍♀️?? And how are you feeling about a Christmas due date?
